Review: City of Bones, by Cassandra Clare

Hiya! 

I finally re-read City of Bones (★★★★★), by Cassandra Clare, because I decided I was going to finally read all of the Shadowhunters books. I only ever read The Mortal Instruments series, so I'm re-reading that whole series, plus all the rest. Of course, I decided to do this BEFORE deciding to read all these other books this year, so... we'll see how quickly I get there :)

I really do love these books. I'm even more excited now than I've ever been before to continue on with the rest of the books in this universe. I've read so much more and had more life experience than the last time I read this, so I'm appreciating more the things that I liked about it to begin with.

The pacing is fantastic. There aren't more than a page or two in a row at any point in the book that I get bored. Every time you think there's going to be a break, something else happens, and I love it.

I'm really not a huge fan of love triangles in books. I love them in rom-com movies, but in books, not as much. That being said, I love the characters in this story so much, that stuff like that doesn't bother me as much. I'm always a sucker for a badass redhead :)

I forgot how much this story really was focused on only a couple of characters. Obviously I love them, but I can't wait to keep reading in the series, especially to get more of Isabelle, Alec, and of course Magnus.
